With a career spanning 30 years, Amândio Cruz is a Viticulture Consultant involved with wine projects across various regions of Portugal, including the Douro, Dão, Lisbon, Alentejo and the Azores. In 2020, he was awarded the Viticulture 2020 prize by the prestigious wine magazine Vinho Grande Escolhas. He was born and raised in Sobral de Monte Agraço, on the outskirts of Lisbon, to a family with strong links to the land and in a region with a long winegrowing tradition. Amandio decided early on that his professional life would lead him towards the wine industry. Amandio holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Higher School of Agronomy (ISA) in Lisbon and a post-graduate degree in "Plant Nutrition, Soil Fertility and Fertilisation." He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in viticulture at the ISA and is involved in several European and national research projects in this field. He is also the author and co-author of 65 publications, including books, scientific journal articles, conference proceedings and technical journals. Amandio is also responsible for viticulture on the Coordinating Board of Professional Activities at the Portuguese Oenology Association. Now at Kranemann Wine Estates, Amândio Cruz brings his passion for viticulture to life, keeping a watchful eye over the vines at Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias in the Távora Valley.
