Although he grew up in the city of Lisbon, Diogo’s family roots in the rural Beiras province of Central Portugal nurtured his deep connection with agriculture. His degree in Agronomy included harvest internships in the Vinho Verde, Douro and Alentejo wine regions of Portugal as well as experiences abroad in California’s Napa Valley and Mendoza in Argentina, which deepened his appreciation of different terroirs. By this point, Diogo’s passion for the wine industry was firmly established. He and Anselmo met at the very beginning of Diogo’s professional career in wine in 2005 and they have been working together ever since, drawing off their complimentary skills and knowledge of various terroirs. He thrives on the possibility of creating something unique, which is what makes his work at Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias so exciting.
