The Olive Cycle: From Budding to Harvesting in the Távora Valley

Oct 29th 24

On our Quinta do Convento de S. Pedro das Águias, in the heart of the Távora Valley, the annual cycle of the olive trees follows the rhythm of nature, deeply marked by the seasons.

As it is characteristic to the annual cycle, after the winter, when the trees rest in lethargy, spring brings budding, with the new shoots that will give rise to future olives and the branches that will sustain the harvests of the coming years.

We are currently at the height of autumn, the fundamental period of olive ripening. They began to form in the summer, and they are taking on their final colours, ranging from green to black, as well as refining their aromas and flavours. They will soon be ready to be harvested.

This is the moment when patience and care for the tree throughout the year translates into the fruit - the olive, of excellence - which is essential to produce quality olive oil such as ours from Kranemann Wine Estates, under the Quinta do Convento brand.

The upcoming harvest celebrates this natural cycle, so deeply rooted in the estate's lands.
