In 2018, Christoph Kranemann’s dream came true when he set up the Kranemann Wine Estate project at the Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias, in the heart of the Douro. The hard work has paid off and the wines produced since have brought the Estate substantial recognition. The most recent distinction was a nomination for the Producer of the Year 2020 award, by the prestigious industry publication, Revista de Vinhos.
Almost three years and three harvests later, Kranemann Wine Estates has two new DOC Douro brands (Quinta do Convento and Hasso), capitalising on the characteristics of the high altitude terroir in the Távora Valley, producing highly elegant and fresh wines. The Kranemann brand has caught industry attention with the launch of excellent Port wines, especially the very original Tawny wines and the declaration of Vintage 2018. This wine will be available on the market in the coming year.
“There is no doubt that the recognition of our work is hugely satisfying. Portugal makes extraordinary wines, and for us, it’s a an honour to be up there with so many outstanding projects in the country”, explains Christoph Kranemann. “We’d first of all like to thank Revista de Vinhos for the nomination and at the same time congratulate all those who were nominated and took home awards, not forgetting our own team. It is all the more poignant after such a challenging year”, he concluded.
2021 will see Kranemann Wines Estates launching not only the Vintage 2018, but also the first Quinta do Convento Reserva Tinto 2018. In January of this year the Quinta do Convento Tinto 2018 came onto the market.
