Hasso

The launch of the Hasso brand onto the market sees Kranemann Wine Estates taking their product strategy to the next level. It marks the arrival on the market of the entry level wines from the Kranemann Wine Estates’ range. These wines are fresh and elegant, reflecting the high altitude terroir of the Vale do Távora. Hasso Red 2018 and Hasso White 2018 are young, ideal for food pairing and particularly versatile for the summer that is just around the corner.

The inspiration behind these wines is the relaxed and lively personality of the Kranemann family’s four-legged friend, Hasso, a Rhodesian ridgeback, who is featured on the wine labels. This design won the Trophy (top prize) in the category New Design of a Wine Brand at The Wine Design Challenge 2020. This competition is organised by the prestigious British magazine, Drinks International and the clean, modern and uncomplicated design impressed the judges.

The wines are part of this history: “Hasso Red is a young wine and a somewhat less common wine in a region like the Douro. We were looking for a process involving less extraction and fewer tannins, making the wine more rounded and easy to drink, thus maximising the potential of our terroir. It’s a red that shows the fresh and elegant side to the Douro and makes for easy and direct tasting”, explains the winemaker Diogo Lopes apropos of the wine that has been listed as a Best Buy by the prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine.

As Diogo Lopes describes, Hasso Branco “is also a seductive and inviting wine. We wanted to maximise the fruity expression and at the same time maintains its balance, acidity and freshness. The red and white are two modern and attractive wines, characterised by their terroir”.
